POTTERY TOURS OF JAPAN

Come with us on an incredible journey through the sights, culture and flavours of Japan. Cherry blossom, famous pottery festivals, craft workshops, exclusive visits to practising pottery studios, ancient temples and the most modern of museums. These are just a few of the amazing experiences you’ll have when you join us on one of our Pottery Tours of Japan. All of our tours are limited to small groups to ensure an experience of a lifetime as we make our way through Japan. Kiku Pottery Studio offers a variety of Spring (March/April) and Autumn (October) tour packages. 2020 SPRING TOUR

Main Tour

The main tour starts in Hakata, Kyushu on March 31st. From Hakata, the tour explores Karatsu, Arita, Imari, Okayama, Bizen, Kyoto, Shigaraki, Tokoname and Nagoya, before coming to an end at the final destination, Tokyo, on April 12th. Highlights of the main tour include: a visit to a famous potter’s studio in Karatsu, hands-on pottery workshops in Arita and Shigaraki, a pottery festival in the “Village of the Secret Kilns”, a visit to one of “the three gardens of Japan”, a day in Bizen - home to “Bizen ware” and one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, amazing Kyoto during cherry blossom season, time to explore the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, a visit with a teapot pottery master, a day exploring the metropolis of Tokyo and amazing meals along the way!

  • One day guided tour of Tokyo: +$AU195

Mashiko extension

The Mashiko Extension begins on the final day of the main tour. We travel to Mashiko, home of Hamada Shoji, where we stay overnight before returning to Tokyo.
